TRANSIT FORUM
10:30 - 12:00
West Seattle Transit Issues
Changes are coming to West Seattle's transit environment, roadways and overall access to other areas of the city. Come and learn what the city, county and regional agencies are proposing or have already begun implementing.  The forum will include presentations about the changes coming to the Metro bus system, the Viaduct's South end, the Spokane Street Viaduct, and expanded service for the Elliott Bay Water Taxi.  We'll also discuss future additions to our transit mix like a trolley on 1st Ave through SODO and how we might fund expansion of transit.

Panel members are:

  • Richard Conlin - President, Seattle City Council
  • Dow Constantine - King County Council, District 8
  • Bill Bryant - Seattle Department of Transportation
  • Michael McGinn  -Seattle Great City Initiative
12:30 - 1:30
A Sustanable Solution to the Viaduct:
Surface Streets and a Transit Solution

Cary Moon, director of the People's Waterfront Coalition, will lead a discussion of a sustainable, urban solution to the future of Seattle's Central Waterfront. It's time to head in a new direction with transportation; one that is responsible from an environmental standpoint, pragmatic from an economic standpoint, and that contributes to the city we want to become. How can we use this opportunity to launch the next 100 years of sustainable growth?
