CoolMom April Meeting Focuses on Spring Gardening

Greetings, West Seattle CoolMoms!

CoolMoms have a fun, family-friendly meeting planned this month. They’re continuing their spring gardening theme.

Please bring your seeds, starts, and gardening tips and join West Seattle CoolMoms for a seed and start exchange!

Kids are welcome this month – CoolMom will have egg cartons and art supplies so the little ones can decorate their own compostable seed-start containers!

Second Use Building Materials Free Workshop on Installing Doors

Installing doors can add character and of course function to any home, but installing them can be a tricky task. Pacific Iron’s Doorhouse will lead this free workshop, giving participants the tools, tips and resources needed to successfully install interior and exterior doors. Children’s Bike Rodeo to Kick-Off West Seattle Community Project

Live music, food, neighbors and fun to encourage West Seattleites to Think Outside the Car.

West Seattle, WA   When you put Earth Day together with a neighborhood matching grant, you get a whole lot of fun! Parks & Green Spaces Levy Opportunity Fund Announces Start of 2012-2013 Allocation Cycle

Seattle Parks and Recreation is pleased to announce the start of the 2012/2013 cycle of the Parks and Green Spaces Levy Opportunity Fund. Under the 2008 Levy, this fund allocates $15 million for community initiated park development or property acquisition projects. In the first round, $7 million was allocated; $8 million is available this cycle.

Mandatory Workshops Now Required for Match Fund Large Projects ($100K)

Need funds to support your neighborhood project?

Come to a Neighborhood Matching Fund workshop to learn about applying to the Large Projects Fund which provides matching awards of up to $100,000 to neighborhood groups for community-building projects. Attendance at one of the workshops is required in order to submit an application in July.

At the workshop attendees will get an overview of the Neighborhood Matching Fund, learn about the new Large Projects Fund application process and requirements, and hear from other city of Seattle departments and Seattle Public Schools.

Interested applicants can choose from one of the following workshops:

Central Area

  • Thursday, April 19, 5:45 pm to 7:45 pm
  • Douglass Truth Library, 2300 E Yesler Way (E Yesler @ 23 Ave., 2 blocks South of Garfield High School)

North Area

  • Tuesday, April 24, 5:45 pm to 7:45 pm
  • Greenwood Library, 8016 Greenwood Ave N (Greenwood Ave N @ N 81st St.)

South Area

  • Saturday, April 28, 10:00 am to 12:00 noon
