We Need Your Help!

Ever borrow a tool from your neighbor? Ever wish they had a better selection? Sustainable West Seattle has won a grant from the City of Seattle Department of Neighborhoods and has set up a tool lending library. You can find out more information or check out our inventory!

New Neighborhood Service Center, SW Pool, & New Teen Life Center To Be Dedicated

West Seattle celebrates the opening of the Southwest Pool, Teen Life Center, Neighborhood Service Center.

The community is invited to the Southwest Pool, Teen Life Center and Neighborhood Service Center dedication on Tuesday, April 17, from 11:30 am to 4:00 pm at 2801 SW Thistle St.

Rain Barrels to Rain Gardens Public Workshop @ Burien Library

The Environmental Science Center (ESC) and Stewardship Partners with support from the City of Burien and King Conservation District are sponsoring a free workshop for the public. The subject will be Rain Barrels to Rain Gardens: Rainwater Strategies to Enhance Your Yard. 2012 Urban Forest Symposium @ UW Center for Urban Horticulture

Amnesty and the University of Washington are hosting the 2012 Urban Forest Symposium on Monday, May 14, from 9:00 am through 4:00 pm at the University of Washington Botanic Gardens, Center for Urban Horticulture, 3501 NE 41st St.

Village Green Perennial Nursery Hosting Seminar on Beekeeping

Beekeeping – Ask Questions of a longtime Beekeeper.

This seminar will cover basic beekeeping concepts for getting started, including tools and equipment, local laws and sources for more information.  The event is being hosted at Village Green Perennial Nursery at  10223 26th Avenue SW, in Shorewood.

The beekeeper is Brian Allen, founder of Sustainable West Seattle, a past member of the Puget Sound Beekeepers Association Board of Trustees, and Secretary of the Sustainable Seattle Board of Directors.
