Ever borrow a tool from your neighbor? Ever wish they had a better selection? Sustainable West Seattle has won a grant from the City of Seattle Department of Neighborhoods and has set up a tool lending library. You can find out more information or check out our inventory!

Seattle Tilth Offering ‘Grow Your Own’ Class @ White Center

Seattle Tilth is offering a series of classes here on the West Side. Expand your mind while growing your own food!

It’s spring, and now’s the time to get your garden started! Whether you’re new to growing veggies, or a seasoned pro, Seattle Tilth offers a wide variety of classes to help you take the next steps in gardening. Check out this classe in the West Seattle area!

  • Get Your Garden Growing - Learn how to prepare garden beds for planting, amend the soil and determine whether or not it is ready to cultivate. We will cover seed sowing methods and how to use season extension tools such as cloches and cold frames. You will leave prepared to get your garden started for a season of productive gardening!

This class is offered in partnership with Community Harvest of SW Seattle, and is this Saturday, April 23, from 10:oo am through 12:00 noon.

The class will be taught at the White Center Cultural Community Center; 9421 18th Ave. SW, in Room 12.  This is on 18th Avenue SW between SW Cambridge and Roxhill Streets, near the White Center business district.
