Women and Climate Change: Connecting Around the World

March 4, 2010
7:00 pmto10:00 pm

CoolMom and several other organizations are co-sponsoring Women and Climate Change, Connecting Around the World, at Town Hall, March 4, doors open at 7:00 pm, the lecture starts at 7:30 pm

Don’t miss this great opportunity to hear all about how climate is affecting women around the world and what we can do about here in Washington.

As unpredictable and extreme weather increases across the globe, so does the suffering of women in poor countries as they struggle to plant and grow food, collect water, gather firewood, and care for their families. The presentation will feature:

  • Phil Borges, photographer and author (Women Empowered: Inspiring Change in the Emerging World)
  • Sara Curran and Lucy Jarosz, professors, University of Washington, who will discuss their research and teaching expertise about the reasons and ways climate change affects poor women globally
  • Jessie Dye will get very practical about solutions and ways in which we can participate
